Congratulations to Richard Talbot, this year’s recipient of PLPCO’s Professionalism in
Cultural Resources Consulting Award. Mr. Talbot is the director of Brigham Young
University’s Office of Public Archaeology. During his nearly 40 years of professional
practice, he has made significant contributions to Utah archaeology through cultural
resources management, academic research, and teaching. On February 17, his peers
recognized him as the PLPCO-permitted principal investigator whose deportment in the
practice of cultural resources consulting during the past four years represents the
highest standards of professional morality, professional responsibility, and professional
competence in completing projects that meet or exceed agency specifications, make
contributions to the discipline of anthropological archaeology, and disseminate results to
professional and public audiences. PLPCO is grateful for Mr. Talbot’s exceptional work,
his significant contributions to Utah archaeology, and his example of professionalism in
cultural resources consulting.
